Celebrating Seniors

By Margaret Stegner

YAY! You’ve made it! Well, not to the end of your senior year, but you’ve made it to that point where you can see your hand reaching out to accept that hard earned diploma! YAY YOU! Of course, you still have a few months of hard work to attain that goal, but the finish line is in sight! Your next chapter is about to begin!

Motivating oneself to push on to the finish line can be a challenge. You’ve worked so hard. You’re tired. All you want to do is turn the page, but you still have things to do before it’s possible. You CAN do it! You WILL do it! But where will you find that motivation?

One way is to look to the future, but for many, looking into the unknown is daunting. I know it was for me. Looking at the blank canvas of my future was frightening! It was the exact opposite of motivating!

So, what did I do to find that motivation? I sought advice from the trusted individuals in my life…friends, family, teachers. One day while talking to one of the oldest people I knew, he told me, “Looking to the future is great, but it is here and now that counts. Your hard work got you this far, so you already know you’re capable. You can do it! You’ve already proven it…and that’s worth celebrating!”

One of the best ways to celebrate how far you’ve come is to reflect on those things you want to remember, and of course the best way to preserve those memories is through your SENIOR PICTURES! If you haven’t already made arrangements to get your SENIOR PICTURES taken, IT IS NOT TOO LATE!

According to Alyssa Stegner, owner and photographer of Dreams Shots Media, LLC, finding the right photographer is key to capturing your memories.

Q. How do you find the right photographer?

A. Call (614) 216-0062 and ask for Alyssa! (a little chuckle) Seriously, finding the right photographer is important. Look at their websites but remember that will only give you the basics. Call and talk with them. Make sure they are willing to work with you to tell your story the way you want it told. You really want someone you feel comfortable with.

Q. After a photographer has been selected, do you have any advice for a successful Senior Photo session?

A. Your photo session should be what you want it to be. After all we’re telling your story! First, make sure you love the location. Be ready to work when you get there. You’ll have a set amount of time, so you want to make the most of it. Come with ideas, but don’t be afraid to try something suggested by your photographer unless it is truly something that doesn’t suit your personality. Having a friend along is sometimes very helpful. Most of all, have fun!

Q. Why should someone choose Dream Shots Media, LLC for their Senior Pictures?

A. Getting to be a part of telling a person’s unique story is such a privilege. No two are the same, because no two people are the same. You need a photographer who will celebrate you! I take great pride in creating a friendly, flexible environment in which you can feel comfortable expressing your personality! You be you and as your story unfolds, I will have my camera ready.

Everyone’s got a dream and it’s my dream to capture your memories!
